Tabela posle pet kola:

Poljska 13
Rusija 12
Brazil 12
Italija 11
Iran 9
Kuba 9
Argentina 9
SAD 6
Srbija 3
Egipat 3
Japan 2
Kina 1

Nasi veceras sa Rusima. Igra se i juznoamericki derbi, a Kuba ide na Italiju. Iran protiv SAD :funbat:

Pregazise nas Rusi kao plitak potok. 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-15). U drugom mecu SAD ubedljive protiv Irana 3-0.

Hamamatsu, Japan, November 27, 2011 - Russia improved to 5-1 in 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup play with a win over a young Serbian team suffering from some key injuries 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-15). Serbia was resting many of their older players in the match, now that it can no longer finish in the top three.

Leading Russia on the day was their captain Taras Khtey, who was awarded the match’s most impressive player award scoring 13 points. Maxim Mikhaylov and Dmitriy Muserskiy supported with 11 and 10 respectively, and seven blocks between them. For Serbia, they were led by Uros Kovacevic with 11, followed by Aleksandar Atanasijevic with 10. Russia held a 15-4 blocking advantage in the match and delivered six aces to Serbia’s one.

Russia started the first set with Mikhaylov setting the tone early with a great block on Milos Vemic, and following shortly after with an ace to go ahead 7-4. His captain Khtey pitched in a pair of spikes from out wide, and a Muserskiy block put the Russians ahead five. Serbia’s Atanasijevic tried to rally the crowd behind his team, but Russia continued to serve well as Sergey Tetyukhin kept his team rolling with an ace that trickled over the tape to make it 20-13. And yet another from Alexander Volkov (Russia’s fourth in the set) helped seal it 25-16.

Russia had great blocks from Muserskiy and Mikhaylov putting the Russians up early in the second set. Serbia had a few bright moments, namely an impressive Mihajlo Mitic block on a driving Mikhaylov. But neither the big spiker nor the Russia team were fazed as Mikhaylov powered a spike through Serbia’s block on the next point to put them up 10-4. But it was Russia’s strong blocking that made the difference in this set, putting up seven in the set, including a great stuff by Nikolay Apalikov to go ahead 20-11. From there, the big man Muserskiy would drop two hard spikes late to close 25-16, two sets up.

It was more of the same in the third, with Muserskiy posting his third block on an attacking Uros Kovacevic to go up 7-4. Serbia’s Milos Vemic managed to break through on a trio of scores on the wing, and Uros Kovacevic had some luck attacking as well — but it was really too little too late as Sergey Makarov came off the bench with an ace to make it a 19-11 lead. A Denis Biriukov ace would end it emphatically for a Russian squad which served and blocked well on the day.

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: First of all I’d like to congratulate the Russian team. I hope they can go to the Olympic Games. Today we played our young players because as I said in the last press conference, we have lost any chance for the Olympics [top three finish], so it’s a good opportunity to play against a strong rival in Russia. Today they played perfectly, just some [minor mistakes]. Today we didn’t have an opportunity to put up a tough game.

On tomorrow versus Italy, and whether he would play young players again: We will see what happens. Today was a rest day for older players, but tomorrow we will see.

Serbia captain Ivan Miljkovic: Generally the only thing I can say is that this event will be good a experience for our young team. They had opportunity to play one of the strongest teams in world. I wish all the best and good luck to the russian team until the end of the competition.

On Serbia number 16, Aleksandar Atanasijevic: Of course he’s one of best young players in world, and he showed that in the World Championships this year. And I hope in the next Olympic Games that he shows all [his skills].

Hamamatsu, Japan, November 29, 2011 - Brazil came into Tuesday’s match against Serbia with a 5-2 record in 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup play, having been handed their second loss on Monday to a spirited Cuba team. They were surprised with another defeat at the hands of a spirited Serbian squad, who beat them 3-1 (27-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21). Brazil’s road to London now gets much tougher, as third place in the tournament is just a little closer for Italy and Cuba who are tied for fourth.

Leading Serbia on the day was their captain Ivan Miljkovic with 22 points. Winning the most impressive player award was Milos Nikic, who had a stellar performance with 21 points. Brazil were led by their captain Gilberto Godoy Filho (Giba) with 15 points.

Men’s World Cup Results/Standings, Match Info, Photos or Live Scoring

Serbia took the lead early with an ace by Marco Podrascanin helping his side to 7-4. In comparison, Brazil struggled with their serving, committing a flurry of errors in the first. But Leandro Vissotto Neves was attacking well and managed to keep his team within one at 13-12. Serbia jumped ahead by four on a Nikola Kovacevic score, but Brazil’s Murilo Endres and Theo helped their side power back within one again at 23-22. Serbia's Miljkovic was too much late however (despite tallying eight in the set), posting a hard spike to give Serbia their third set point after Brazil bit on the decoy, and they took the set from there 27-25.

The Brazilians rebounded in the second with a hard Giba spike putting them up 6-2. Vissotto was attacking well, adding four points including a soft floater at the net to push to 17-12. Miljkovic brought his side back within three with a wonderful ace to make it 23-20, but it was too late at that point as Brazil closed it 25-20, evening the match at a set a piece.

Murilo starded out attacking well in the third for Brazil, but was countered by Serbia’s Nikic who was firing away on the wing. Nikic would post a block on Vissotto as well to put Serbia up 11-9. As Brazil again struggled with serving in the second, they nevertheless stuck close, managing to equalize at 16-16. But from there Serbia brought more Nikic, as he has three key spikes (of eight points in the set) in the clutch while Dragan Stankovich brought a block on Giba to take the set 25-20.

Miljkovic gave Serbia an 8-4 lead to start the fourth, but Brazil’s Wallace de Souza came off the bench with four great attacks to cut the lead to 14-12. But a Nikic ace helped put Serbia ahead by five, and that was a lead they wouldn’t relinquish as a Miljkovic spike made it 22-19, and he brought another to close it 25-22, taking the match 3-1.

Serbia captain Ivan Miljkovic: Brazil is always interesting for us. All the games are very important, but for sure this is an important victory for us, even though we don’t have big chances to qualify. But it will help us improve our games and change our approach moving forward.

On the third round in Hamamatsu: The first two games we played with a young team and they put up good resistance. I think they learned a lot. We were fresher than Brazil today, and some of our starters were well rested. But yes, this is an important victory for us.

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: It is our best game in this tournament. I said yesterday we don’t get a chance to play Brazil a lot, let alone beat them. We are very satisfied with this win set.

On Nikic’s strong performance: In the last European Championships he was one of our best players. But during this tournament he had some knee pain. He missed two games versus Russia and Italy, but today he was impressive. He was motivated because we were playing against Brazil. For us it's a big game every time we play against Brazil.

Brazil captain Gilberto Godoy Filho (Giba): We had so many mistakes today. And for us in such big a match, we really wanted to win. Serbia played very good in their attack, No. 10 [Milos Nikic] and Miljkovic played well, and with us not blocking or defending [well] is difficult, making too many mistakes.

Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende: I think what our captain said was right. We had so many mistakes. There were many breaks we didn’t [capitalize on]. Serbia played their first good match in the competition and they deserved to win. We had some tension, but its my responsibility to build the group to strongly resist this kind of situation.

Dobismo Egipcane u vrlo neizvesnoj utakmici, 3-1 (25-20 19-25 25-22 28-26)

Statistika

Tokyo, Japan, December 2, 2011 - Serbia, despite their 2-6 record before a 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup fourth-round match against Egypt, were riding a high after defeating top-ranked Brazil in their last match to end the third round. They would take another win against a spirited Egyptian team at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Friday with a 3-1 win (25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 28-26).

Serbia were led by their captain Ivan Miljkovic, who contributed 18 points in the match. He was supported by the high-flying Milos Nikic with 16 points. Leading Egypt in scoring was their lethal lefty Ahmed Abdelhay, who led all scorers with 25 points, including three blocks.

The teams exchanged points to start the first set until a pair of Abdelhay errors let Serbia jump out 8-5 on a hard spike from Miljkovic. Abdelhay would attack well for the rest of the set (he had seven points in the frame), but Miljkovic countered with another spike putting his side up 16-12. Stankovic finished the set 25-20 with a hard spike, a set that Serbia controlled well despite the relatively close score.

Egypt was more competitive in the second set, going up three points early on an ace by Abdelhay. Mohamed Badawy (aka Moneim) helped them keep that cushion with a great spike off a would-be Serbian block and an ace on the next point to make it 11-8. Uros Kovacevic helped bring his team back showing wonderful touch on a tip to come within one at 16-15. But Egypt took eight of the last 11 points in the set, including a highlight reel diving dig by the captain Ashraf Abouelhassan (perhaps personifying Egypt’s spirit in the match), which led to an Ahmed spike. That run would clinch the second for Egypt, 25-19, making it one set a piece.

Dragan Stankovic and Marko Podrascanin posted their third and fourth blocks to give their side and edge to start the third, and Nikic made a clever tip making it 8-5 at the TTO. But Egypt hung close and would eventually tie the set at 10-10, battling hard with Moneim attacking well with three great attacks mid-set. Nikic countered with three key scores of his own, capped by a stunning block on Abdelhay to go up 19-15, but Egypt again clawed back as their captain posted a wonderful block on Uros Kovacevic to tie at 21-21. But it wasn’t enough as a well-timed Miljkovic ace helped Serbia close a tough set 25-22, to go ahead two sets to one.

Serbia’s Stankovic and Podrascanin were attacking well in the fourth, finally shaking free of Egypt after a wonderful running tip by Miljkovic to help go ahead 13-10. But as they did all match, Egypt hung around with an Abdelhay spike bringing them back within one at 21-20. Egypt showed great determination fighting off five Serbia match points late, but in the end Miljkovic and Serbia overpowered them, 28-26, taking the set and the match.

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: I’d like to thank the Egyptian coach for the for nice words. This was such a long game for me. I’m satisfied because we could win a very early morning game. Tomorrow we expect the same as today, and I hope we win too. Egypt played well, and we played with patience so I’m glad we took the game in the end.

Serbia captain Ivan Miljkovic: I’m very happy we won our third match. I’m surprised with our play in this match, as it was very early morning for a volleyball match. I just hope that everyone will realize that these matches are not so easy for anyone at 11 a.m. in the morning.
