SPANIJA - UKRAJINA (H2H 0-0)
Spain host Ukraine in what will be the first meeting between these two sides in Davis Cup history. Both sides will be desperate to earn a win and compete in the World Group for next year.
Spain are in the World group play-off after losing 3-2 to Canada in the World Group first round. Spain were without a number of their top players but were disappointed to have lost.
Ukraine are in the World Group play-off following two 3-2 wins this year. They defeated Sweden in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I second round, coming back from 2-1 down, with Sergiy Stakhovsky winning the deciding rubber.
HOLANDIJA - AUSTRIJA (H2H 1-0)
Austria travel to Netherlands for this World Group play-off with the knowledge that they have a good record in this part of the competition, with 8 wins from 9 matches. It will be only the second time these two nations have met. Netherlands won the first meeting 3-0 in 1928.
Netherlands earned their place in the World Group play-off when they comfortably overcame Romania 5-0 in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I second round.
Austria find themselves trying to avoid relegation following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan in the World Group first round.
HRVATSKA - VELIKA BRITANIJA (H2H 0-1)
Croatia play host to Great Britain in the World Group play-off and will be out for revenge. The last time the teams met was at this stage of the competition in 2007 and Britain won 4-1.
Croatia are facing relegation after they lost 3-2 to Italy in the World Group first round.
Great Britain are aiming to return to the World Group following a five-year absence. They overturned a 0-2 deficit for the first time since 1930 to defeat Russia 3-2 in their Europe/Africa Zone Group I second round clash.
SVAJCARSKA - EKVADOR (H2H 0-0)
Ecuador travel to Switzerland in the World Group play-off for the first ever Davis Cup meeting between these two nations. With a World Group place at stake for next year, both will be desperate to win it.
Switzerland are facing relegation after suffering a 3-2 loss to Czech Republic in the World Group first round. That tie contained the longest rubber in Davis Cup history, lasting 7 hours and 1 minute. Unfortunately for the Swiss team, they were unable to win it and went on to lose the tie.
Ecuador are looking to make a return to the World Group. They last participated at the highest level in 2010 and earned their place in the World Group play-off thanks to a 3-2 victory over Chile. Emilio Gomez was Ecuador's hero, winning the fifth rubber in 4 sets.
NEMACKA - BRAZIL (H2H 3-2)
Germany currently lead Brazil 3-2 in their head-to-head, but it was the South Americans who won the last tie between the two nations. With a place in the World Group at stake, Germany will be out for revenge.
Germany lost in the World Group first round this year 5-0 in Argentina. They were unable to play to the best of their ability in the cauldron that is Parque Roca, so they will be eager to play well in front of their own fans.
Brazil are in the play-off following a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of USA in this year's World Group first round. Before last year, Brazil had a terrible record in World Group play-offs, losing their previous seven ties.
POLJSKA - AUSTRALIJA (H2H 0-0)
Australia travel to Poland desperate to return to the World Group. They may be the second most successful nation in Davis Cup history but they haven't been in the top tier of the competition since 2007. Poland, on the other hand, are in their first ever World Group play-off and will be looking to reach the top tier of the competition for the first time.
Poland reached the play-off after a 3-1 victory over South Africa. They boast a Top 25 player in Jerzy Janowicz as well as a formidable doubles pair in the form of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.
Australia have faced little difficulty in reaching this year's World Group play-off, defeating Chinese Taipei 5-0 then Uzbekistan 3-1. Bernard Tomic, recalled to the team for the last round, won both of his matches in Uzbekistan and is considered one of the top young players on the tour. The inspirational Lleyton Hewitt, Australia's best Davis Cup player, is also still involved.
BELGIJA - IZRAEL (H2H 2-2)
Belgium and Israel are currently tied at 2-2 in their head-to-head but Belgium have won their last two meetings. With a World Group place for next year up for grabs, they will be hoping to make it three in a row whereas Israel will be desperate to stop the run.
Belgium are facing relegation after losing 3-2 to Serbia in the World Group first round. Belgium are regulars in World Group play-offs, having competed in 20 over the last 23 years and they have a winning record, having won 12.
Israel suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to France in the opening round of this year's World Group. They have been involved in World Group play-offs for each of the last 3 years, including a spectacular 3-2 victory over Japan last year.
JAPAN - KOLUMBIJA (H2H 0-0)
This year's World Group play-off will be the first time that Japan and Colombia have met in Davis Cup. Both teams will want to win the opening encounter and book a place in next year's World Group.
Japan were pushed all the way by Korea in their Asia/Oceania Zone Group I second round clash, but it was Japan who prevailed in the fifth rubber and earned a place in this year's play-off.
Having received a bye in the first round, Colombia knew that victory over Uruguay would see them in the play-offs, and they achieved it in sensational style, winning 5-0. Colombia have never competed in the World Group but they will be hopeful of making their debut next year.
