Stepanek’s divorce from the tall, blonde 24-year-old Vaidisova, TENNIS.com understands, is official. He has turned to the tall, blonde, 23-year-old Kvitova, making it a hat-trick of high-profile tennis romances. Recall, too, that Stepanek was once engaged to Martina Hingis.

“There were times before when our marriage didn’t work, but I was fighting until the end to make it work,” Stepanek said. “We didn’t find a way. I believe for both of us in the long run it was the best option.

“I didn’t want it to happen but it’s always better to be honest.”

Turning serious when discussing his split from Vaidisova, Stepanek’s cheerfulness returned as he waxed lyrical about the 2011 Wimbledon champion. Kvitova rooted on Stepanek last Friday at The O2 arena in London but failed to prevent her boyfriend and Paes from being eliminated in the group stage.

The duo, according to Stepanek, has many things in common, including a strong bond with their families and growing up in small towns. Outwardly, Stepanek, in case you hadn’t guessed, is the extrovert of the pair.

“I found in Petra something very, very special,” Stepanek said. “She’s a very smart girl and very humble for a person who has already achieved so much in tennis.

“She has a big heart and when I see her parents, I kind of see my own parents. I’m so happy I found her, and it definitely changed my life.”

Former world number three and retiring player David Nalbandian avoided to air out his side in the ongoing feud between the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) and world number five Juan Martin Del Potro. The Argentine, a former Wimbledon finalist, has stated earlier this year that he will be retiring from professional tennis.

“I am a former player. I read the letter (Juan Martín) Del Potro sent to the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) citing his reasons for withdrawing from the first round Davis Cup series but I do not know both sides’ arguments,” Nalbandian said in a press conference held in the Usina del Arte in La Boca neighborhood.

“It is a pity that Juan Martín is not in the team but I am not part of the disagreement”, he added.

Del Potro has decided not to participate in the Davis Cup first round tie against Italy in 2014.

“I am fit enough for both exhibition matches. I am sure I will enjoy the farewell,” Nalbandian said, referring to his farewell exhibition matches against Rafael Nadal this week. “I have not yet realized that I have retired because I keep training every morning. The difference is that I have the afternoons off in order to enjoy my family and to learn to become a good father for my daughter”.

The actress, 27, and her tennis pro beau, 26, plan to tie the knot on Dec. 31 in Southern California. The event will double as a fire-and-ice-themed holiday bash, with cocktails, dancing, and plenty to celebrate.



The actress' rep first confirmed her engagement to Us Weekly on Sept. 26, just three months after the couple started dating, and just a few days after they made their red-carpet debut together at a pre-Emmys party. "I know that it seems a little crazy on paper," she told ET after Sweeting proposed. "But it's what works for us."
What she wants more than anything, though, is for the big day to mean something. "I only want to do this once," she said.

The number six player in the world, Roger Federer, ranks first in Forbes' list of highest-earning professional tennis athletes. He may have experienced on the biggest setbacks in his tennis career during the 2013 season by failing to reach Grand Slam for the first time in 10 years, but it didn't stop Federer from becoming the world's highest-earning tennis player.

According to Forbes Magazine, his total earnings are equivalent to $71.5 million. The 32-year-old Swiss athlete has 10 major sponsorships with Rolex, Nike, Wilson, Mercedes Benz, Gillette, Lindt, Credit Suisse and Moe & Chandon, among many others. Just behind him, on the second place, is tennis court darling Maria Sharapova. The Russian superstar athlete has total earnings of $29 million, and $23 million of it accounts for her endorsement deals. She has been named the new ambassador of Porsche in 2013, and it will run for three years. Aside from that, Sharapova is also the brand image of Nike, Tag Heuer, Samsung Electronics, and more. She has her own business too, Sugarpova.

Both Federer and Sharapova used to dominate the world rankings. They may have been unsuccessful throughout the 2013 season and have not received huge prize money, but they still proved that they can earn so much even without the monetary reward from their winnings.

Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic, is at the third sport with $26.9 million earnings. Like Federer and Sharapova, much of Djokovic's earnings came from his endorsement deals.
