The 18-year-old rising star from the United States introduced himself to the tennis world with his first title run on the circuit on Sunday. The big-hitting 6'2" right-hander topped qualifier Nicolas Meister 6-1, 6-4 in the Maui final, converting on four of 10 break points.
The highly-touted Donaldson became the sixth teen to triumph on the ATP Challenger Tour in the past year and is the seventh-youngest American to claim victory, behind the likes of Andy Roddick, Michael Chang and Jim Courier. The Rhode Island native, who rises to career-high World No. 178, also captured the doubles crown alongside fellow young gun Stefan Kozlov.
Donaldson: "It doesn’t stop until you’re number one, and that’s where I want to be. And even then, it doesn’t stop."
