Egzibicija u Haleu prosle nedelje, ucesnici Martina Navratilova, Anastasija Miskina, Mihael Stih i Stefan Edberg.

Three Wimbledon champions stood on the Centre Court, for the Champions Trophy in 2012, the opening of the 20th Gerry Weber Open in Halle. Some 10,000 spectators were amazed about the still present form of Martina Navratilova and her partner, Michael Stich, and Stefan Edberg, who played with the 2004 French Open champion, Anastasia Myskina (30).

With an ace the 43-year-old Stich converted his second match point to a 5:7, 6:2, 10:8 victory for the German-American team, which had to struggle only in the early stages with some coordination problems. 55-year old Navratilova had expected these difficulties «as Michael does not often play mixed doubles".

Navratilova, who won 18 Grand Slam singles titles during her long career, was active on Saturday at the French Open in Paris, as she played in the legends final. Edberg (46) had been preparing for his first appearance in Halle even on grass in an exhibition match in his country against compatriot Magnus Larsson.

In the end, it took 16 years before Edberg was able to play for the first time in Halle, "in 1996 I had to cancel due to an injury", recalls the Scandinavian, who, after the end of his career, earns his money as an asset manager.

As a tennis player, he came in with his aggressive serve-and-volley game always at high risk, "which in my current job I can no longer afford. I invest only conservative", Edberg tells of his new life.

Martina Navratilova, who was also in Halle for the first time, was enthusiast of the extraordinary facilities of the Gerry Weber Open. "It is like a dream for the players. You go from the hotel directly to the Centre Court or the practice courts. Wonderful!". The intent of the GWO organizers to host a combined tournament for men and women doesn't find the unanimous vote by the left-handed. "The big danger is that the women could be neglected. They would only be number two," is her concern. Navratilova would therefore appreciate if women and men were hosted at different times in Halle.

Steffi Graf's former rival was 331 weeks at the top of the women's world rankings (Graf: 377 weeks). In the memory of the native Czech woman who applied for a political asylum in the United States at the age of 18, another German plays a crucial role. "I played the hardest match of my career in 1973 and three years later against Helga Masthoff. Under extreme weather conditions in Florida, I was really worn out".

Michael Stich, who was the first German player to win the Gerry Weber Open in 1994, drew the conclusions: "The result of the Champions Trophy is secondary. It's more important that the crowd had fun". At this point, Stich had forgiven Stefan Edberg, who had "hit" him with a volley.

At the ripe old age of 31 (for a tennis player), if Anna Kournikova were still playing professional tennis competitively, she likely would be seen as a washed-up has-been. Few players excel at that advanced age (for a tennis player), let alone those who appeared to have a general disdain for training and a perceived disinterest in improving their game that Kournikova so prominently and frequently displayed.

Fortunately for us, the age of 31 is by no means in any way too old to be an incredibly gorgeous woman, as evidenced by Anna Kournikova’s recent photo shoot from something called S Moda Magazine.
In it, the Russian stunner convincingly shows not only the reasons why she easily captured the attention of the world when she burst on the international stage all those years ago, but also that she still has the capability to knock our socks off with her exotic beauty and how comfortably photogenic she appears in front of the camera.

I will not walk your dusty path and flat,
denoting this and that by this and that,
your world immutable wherein no part
the little maker has with Maker's art.
I bow not yet before the Iron Crown,
nor cast my own small golden sceptre down.

Ovaj čovek me maltretira i proganja previše vremena. Istina će izaći na videlo", napisala je ona.

Paradorn Srichaphan prelazi na profesionalni golf

Having traded his racquet for a set of clubs, former world number nine tennis player Paradorn Srichaphan is planning on moving into the ranks of professional golf despite the Thai only taking up the sport two years ago.

The 33-year-old was forced to quit tennis in 2010 after failing to recover from a wrist injury but he plans to follow in the footsteps of Australian Scott Draper in swapping backhands for birdies.

"My goal is to be the first Asian athlete to change from another sport to professional golf," Paradorn said in a statement on Monday.

"Scott Draper from Australia, a top 50 player in world at tennis, he turned pro in Australia playing golf - he was the first one. I want to do the same and create history for a Thai athlete

"I will turn professional this year. I put my time into this sport... I practice early morning and all day at golf.
"I have been playing the game for almost two years now, I started in April 2011 - not that long ago, really."

Paradorn won five singles tennis titles, reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, U.S. and Australian Opens and recorded wins over grand slam winners Andre Agassi, Rafa Nadal and Marat Safin before suffering the career ending injury in a motorcycle crash.

Encouraged by his friend to take up golf, Paradorn has been hooked ever since and claims the injury does not hinder his game but he will need some more work before he is challenging the likes of Tiger Woods and U.S. Masters champion Adam Scott.

He will compete in the $100,000 Singha Pattaya Open at Burapha Golf Club on the ASEAN PGA Tour starting on Thursday, a feeder circuit for golfers in Southeast Asia below the more established Asian and OneAsia Tours.

It will be his second tournament on the regional circuit after two rounds of 81 meant he missed the cut at the Singha Esan Open in February. The Thai, though, was not downcast about his display.

"Over the two days, I was happy with my performance. I hit a lot of good shots and I managed to save par a lot," the amateur said.

"Two birdies is not a lot but I try to do my best.
"A couple of holes I had an eight and a seven... if I could have avoided that it would have been a better score."

Enrique Iglesias i Anna Kournikova

They've been dating for 12 years, and clearly the love between Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova is stronger than ever.
The singer whisked his tennis playing girlfriend away in a speed boat for a romantic ride around Biscayne Bay in Miami.
With Enrique, 37, in the driving seat, Anna, 31, could enjoy the view of the Floridian coastline of their home town.
