Ivana Jorovic and Ana Konjuh, both just 17 years old, are locked in an intense battle in the final Promotion Play-Off match between Serbia and Croatia. The atmosphere court side is electric it must be said. Jorovic seems to be thriving in the raucous atmosphere and keeps threatening to pull away from Konjuh in the third set. But the Croat, through guts more than than brilliant play, is managing to stay with the Serb for now. This one could go either way, but Jorovic, at the moment, appears the stronger of the two.
Great @FedCup match between @anakonjuh and @IvanaJorovic. Now in 3rd decisive set Jorovic leads 3:1 #CRO
It has been a Fed Cup epic between two of the most promising young players in the game but it's Ivana Jorovic who comes out on top, beating Ana Konjuh 63 26 75. The win puts Serbia ahead of Croatia in this Europe/Africa Group I Promotional Play-Off decider.
I think it's fair to say, the future of women's tennis was just on show here in Budapest. Jorovic defeated her fellow 17-year-old in the third set to give Serbia a crucial 1-0 lead over Croatia. There may still be eligible for the juniors - did I mention they're still JUST 17? - but there was nothing rookie about the tennis the talented teenagers just produced. Three times Konjuh fended off match points, but when Jorovic got a fourth look, she converted, sending the Serbian support into raptures. Remarkable effort.
Belgijanke nemaju igracice za sustret sa Madjarskom, samo Flipkens
Fedcup.com's Leigh Walsh has a bit more information from Hungary: "Belgium don't have enough fit players to field on this final day of action so Hungary get a walkover in the first rubber and Kirsten Flipkens will take on Jani Reka-Luca in the second rubber. As Belgium only have one player - obviously - there'll be no doubles."
