Portugal set to be Nations League Finals hosts
Saturday 17 November 2018
The inaugural UEFA Nations League Finals is set to take place in Portugal in June next year.
June's inaugural UEFA Nations League Finals is set to take place in Portugal after the European champions secured top spot in Group A3 of the League Phase.
This is subject to formal appointment by the UEFA Executive Committee at their meeting in Dublin on Monday 3 December. The Finals draw will also take place that day.
In March, Poland, Portugal and Italy all expressed an interest in staging the Finals. As all three nations were in Group A3, the winners were always assured of being hosts. European champions Portugal made sure it would be them with Saturday's 0-0 draw in Italy.
They will be joined in the Finals by England and the two remaining group winners from League A yet to be confirmed, with Portugal having proposed Porto's Estádio do Dragão and the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes as host venues in their bid dossier.
The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 June, with the third-place match and final, crowning the first ever UEFA Nations League winner, to be held on Sunday 9 June.
Host bidders were required to specify two stadiums with a net seating capacity of at least 30,000, ideally located in the same host city or approximately 150km apart.
