“This whole experience is really different and it’s a great atmosphere being with all the other athletes here.”
While Kokkinakis, playing under a protected ranking in Brazil, admits his shoulder injury is still “getting there”, the world No. 452 says that he hopes to make the most of his first Olympic Games, both on court and off.
“Tennis is obviously a big part of things for me, but it’s not the only reason I’m here,” he said. “I’m soaking up the atmosphere.
“I’m going to try and absorb as much as I can, watch as much sport as I can across the Olympics and enjoy my time back on court.”
