Men's World Champion - Novak Djokovic (SRB)
Novak Djokovic becomes Men’s World Champion for the fourth time after reclaiming the No. 1 ranking in 2014. The 27-year-old won his seventh Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, and was also a finalist at Roland Garros and semifinalist at the US Open. He won a total of seven titles during the year including the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals. Djokovic is one of only four men to be named World Champion four or more times, alongside Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.

Novak Djokovic has been named in Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 list of the Sports World’s Brightest Stars.

Forbes writes, "Twice voted ATP player of the year (2011 and 2012), Djokovic reclaimed his title as the world’s No. 1 tennis player in July 2014, surpassing rival Rafael Nadal.

"He’s already won seven Grand Slams, which is tied for eighth-most in the Open Era and includes four Australian Opens. Djokovic is also a seven-time Grand Slam runner-up."
Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo and golfer Rickie Fowler also appear in the list.

Djokovic said he was very fortunate to tell his story to the world through Jacob’s Creek ‘Made by’ film series.

“I was inspired by previous films made by Jacobs Creek with Andre Agassi and was very fortunate to be the next player selected.

“It was exciting to go back to my country to revisit the places and the people that have made me the player I am today.”

Super je nijansa, nije bebi plava, nije štrumf plava, a nije ni šerpa plava. Mada se meni dopada i ona koju je koristio za trening.

Tennis legend Boris Becker believes that fatherhood will improve his ward Novak Djokovic‘s game.

“His son was born in October and right after he had to play tournaments, and we know the results, it was good for his spirits,” Becker was quoted as saying by the Herald Sun.

“It’s a natural progression to settle down and have a family and, if anything, it prolongs a tennis career. Because you are a human being, man or woman, and you do have a private life and once that’s settled it helps your career.”

On his association with the Serb, Becker said: “It’s wonderful when you work with a player and the only aim is to win.”

World number one and ANZ ambassador Novak Djokovic met ANZ Hot Shots winner Anna Bishop on Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne Park on January 15, 2015 in Melbourne, Australia.

At just eight years old, Anna has a talent for tennis. But living on a farm outside Gunnedah in north eastern NSW means she has to go further than most for tennis practice, travelling over 250 kilometres a week just to attend tennis classes. She hasn’t let age or distance get in the way of her passion for tennis. She is a huge fan of Nole and meeting him was surely a dream come true for her.

INTERVJU pre pocetka AO

Q. What happened yesterday with your practice and how are you feeling now?

NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, I had tough couple days. But it's all behind me now. I'm ready for the Open.

Q. What are you suffering with? A cold?

NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Yeah, little bit with the flu and stomach. But I carried that already from the Middle East a little bit. But now it's good. It's passed.

Jos uvek prica kroz nos, valjda mu nece smetati tokom meca

Q. What do you think about the courts? Are they faster compared to last season?

NOVAK DJOKOVIC: I thought already last year that they were a bit faster from the previous years. That was my subjective feeling. Talked to some other players. They confirmed that feeling, as well, on the court. But the court is the same for everybody, so that's why we come here week before and we try to spend as much practice time on the court to get used to the conditions.

World number one Novak Djokovic who cancelled his practice session due to illness on Saturday, looked in completely fine form as he practiced with Borna Coric on Sunday at Rod Laver Arena prior to the start of first grand slam of the year. His friend and fellow countryman Viktor Troicki, who just won the Sydney International tournament, later joined him. Novak was delighted and raised up his hands in joy, after seeing his best friend taking on the court.

Novak Djokovic began his quest for fifth title in Melbourne as he defeated Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in one hour 49 minutes.

Djokovic faced a few break points in the fifth game of the first set, but he didn’t let Bedene to convert any of those opportunities and went on to break the Slovenian in the eighth game and serve it out 6-3 in just 36 minutes.

In the second set, Djokovic without facing any problems broke the Slovenian twice and wrap up the set 6-2. A break in the fifth game of third set was enough for Djokovic to seal the victory and reach the second round in Melbourne.

Djokovic won 84% of his first serves and hit eight aces and three double faults, with 30 winners and 29 unforced errors.

“For a first round performance it was pretty good, obviously I still need to work on a few things, I’m still developing my game,” Djokovic said.

“Hopefully, it’s going to be better in the next one, but credit to Bedene for playing well today.

“I’ve seen him play only once before and on centre court he had nothing to lose and he has a very quick service motion so it was difficult to read his serve.

“If you have a good serve, you have a good chance to play a good match, so I am just glad to go through.”

Novak will next face no.88-ranked Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia.
