ANDY RODDICK FOUNDATION CHARITY GALA
With the support of Elton John, the sixth annual Andy Roddick Foundation Charity Gala raised more than $1 million for children’s organisations on Wednesday evening at the ACL Live Moody Theatre in Austin.

As well as Elton John, Roddick was joined at the gala by his wife, model and actress Brooklyn Decker, American footballer Terrell Owens, golfer Fred Couples, radio show host Bobby Bones, Mayor of Austin Lee Leffingwell, and his fellow tennis players James Blake and Mark Knowles.

The event featured a live auction, where guests had the opportunity to bid on a spa day with Brooklyn Decker, golf with Roddick and Fred Couples and unique trips to The Masters and the Australian Open.
Award-winning singer/songwriter Elton John then took to the stage with a set of his classic tunes, including an encore of a special Lion King tribute, but not before he had pledged a $25,000 donation to the Andy Roddick Foundation. Roddick then matched every individual $1,000 donation that was pledged by guests who had been unable to take part in the extravagant bidding of auction items.

Earlier in the day, Roddick had been joined by Blake, Knowles, and Justin Gimelstob in a golf exhibition at the Austin Country Club. Gimelstob later tweeted that Roddick scored a round of 81, Knowles 81 (including a hole-in-one on the second hole), Blake 87, and himself 88.

The beneficiaries of the Andy Roddick Foundation Charity Gala are children’s organisations local to Texas, including KIPP: Austin Public Schools, The Settlement Home for Children, Austin Partners in Education, A Glimmer of Hope, Austin Children’s Shelter and the Andy Roddick Youth Tennis Program.

I will not walk your dusty path and flat,

I bow not yet before the Iron Crown,
nor cast my own small golden sceptre down.

Htela sam da kažem da bih više volela da pravi ispade samo na konferencijama a ne i na terenu, ali šta se može kad je čovek kompletna ličnost

Rodik u QF Sangaja, ima teoretske sanse za London
Andy Roddick denied Nicolas Almagro an opportunity to add more points in the Battle for London earlier on Thursday, when the 10th-seeded American beat the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals contender 6-3, 6-4. Roddick dropped just eight points on serve - 40 of 48 - and fired 11 aces past No. 7 seed Almagro in the pair's second meeting. It was Roddick's 24th win in 33 matches on hard courts this season.

"I made a bit of an adjustment [on my serve] in warm-up this morning," said Roddick. "I felt like I was not serving great for the first couple rounds. Even last week, I feel like I was having to break two, three times to win a set. I was going like in spots where I'd make three serves in a row, but then miss four or five. It's those gaps where you're hitting second serves where guys get a look. I cleaned that up a little bit today. I think that makes everything look a little bit better."

Injured Roddick out three weeks, no Davis Cup
Andy Roddick retires against Lleyton Hewitt while trailing 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 with a right hamstring injury in the second round of the Australian Open. The former No. 1 said he suffered a similar injury while training in December. On Thursday night in Melbourne, he suffered the injury early in the second set when he lunged awkwardly. He said he might have hyperextended the hamstring.

Roddick aid he could only move at 60 to 70 percent of his ability and could not get proper extension.

"He's a tough guy to play, Roddick said. "You can try to ham and egg it against a lot of guys. But he's really intelligent. He knew what was going on. Then you're out there and you're wondering, listen, even if this goes your way, you're not going to play in two days. So it's a miserable, terrible thing being out there compromised like that. It really sucks."

The 2003 U.S. Open champion says he hopes to return at the tournament in San Jose in three weeks' time. He will not play Davis Cup against Switzerland in early February, but said he had no real plans of playing anyway.

The former No. 1 has spent much of the last two years battling injuries, including shoulder and abdominal ailments that took him out of action during parts of 2011.

"It's frustrating," the 29-year-old said. "It's discouraging. You know, your sensible mind says to have a sense of perspective. You still have it pretty good. The competitor in you feels terrible and wants to break stuff. I can't really complain. I had 10 years pretty much of a clean slate. That's a lot more than most people get. The last two years has been pretty tough. It's tough physically It's as tough mentally, though. It's hard."—Matt Cronin
