TOKYO, Japan
Ana Ivanovic, seeded No.3 this week, followed Wozniacki into the final with a 7-5, 6-3 win over the No.1 seed, Angelique Kerber, winning 10 of 13 games from 5-3 down in the first set to seal it.

"In the beginning it really took me some time to adjust to her game. It wasn't like my previous matches," Ivanovic said. "But once I adjusted and got more aggressive it started to go my way, and I'm really happy with the win today because she's always such a tough and challenging opponent."

Ivanovic's win over Kerber was her 51st WTA-level match win of the year, which ties her 2007 season for the most WTA-level match wins she's ever had in a single season. Can she get to 52 on Sunday?

Both Wozniacki and Ivanovic are among the leading contenders for the five spots left in the WTA Finals, with Ivanovic currently No.8 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard and Wozniacki No.9.

Ivanovic leads Wozniacki in their head-to-head, 4-2, and the Serb also won their only previous 2014 meeting, in the semifinals of Monterrey - that was their closest encounter to date, however.

Thank u guys for everything this week. It was amazing experience. I'm off to China and I'll miss you guys next few weeks. But u r in my Image

Od sutra je 6. u trci :okk:

TOKYO, Japan - With jaw-dropping power and precision, particularly off her forehand, Ana Ivanovic made 2014 the best season of her career on Sunday, beating Caroline Wozniacki to win the Toray Pan Pacific Open - and move closer to the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

The beginning was tight - the two traded breaks en route to 2-all, and they went to six deuces in that game. But from ad-in for the No.2-seeded Wozniacki in that game Ivanovic took complete control, winning 17 points in a row to take the set, 6-2. She had 19 winners to just nine errors in the set.

Wozniacki started building some momentum from there - she broke serve for 3-1 second set and was up 30-15 in that game, just two points from a 4-1 lead. But the No.3-seeded Ivanovic came storming back, winning five of the next eight games to push the set to a tie-break, where she played almost flawlessly to clinch the victory, 6-2, 7-6(2). She finished it off with a huge hook forehand winner.

"Caroline played a great match today," Ivanovic said afterwards. "It was a really good battle out there - there were some very tough moments, especially in the second set. But I just tried to take it one point at a time, and I'm really happy to make it through. It's just an amazing feeling to win this title."

Ivanovic was asked about the many, many fans that were cheering her on throughout the final.

"I love coming out here - you guys are amazing, it's always a pleasure to see you all," she said.

"I've made some friends here through the years and it's great to be back every year."

Ivanovic's win over Wozniacki was her 52nd match win of the year, now the most match wins she's ever had in a season in her career - her previous best was 51 in 2007. It's also her fourth WTA title of the year, another personal best - she won three WTA titles in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

The Serb also collected the milestone 15th WTA title of her career.

But perhaps more importantly, Ivanovic increases her chances of qualifying for the upcoming WTA Finals in a big way - she's projected to move from No.8 to No.6 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard with this Premier-level triumph, and with No.1, No.2 and No.3 already qualified, and eight players eventually qualifying for the tournament, things are looking pretty good for the former World No.1.

"I'm really happy that this is one step closer to the WTA Finals in Singapore," Ivanovic said.

"It's coming close and everything's on the line."

Bez izgubljenog seta :blue: a imala je žreb gori nego na Premijer 5 turniru. Bravo! :jupi:

IVANOVIC SIGHTSEEING IN BEIJING

Ana Ivanovic has been enjoying some sightseeing in Beijing as she recovers from a thigh injury in advance of the China Open, which begins this Saturday.

"It's a great privilege to travel the world playing tennis," Ivanovic said. "But of course our job is to perform to the best of our abilities on the court, so there isn't usually much time to go sightseeing. The one consolation about not being able to practice today is that I got to visit some wonderful sights. Beijing is a fascinating place. This was my second visit to the Great Wall and it's more stunning than I remembered. If you ever have a chance to visit, I really recommend it."

Bravo Ana i za danasnju pobedu i za plasman na zavrsni turnir :hatman:

Ivanovic, who earlier in the day scored her 55th match win of the season - more than she's ever had in a season before, and more than anyone this year - said this has been a year-long goal for her.

"It's been my big goal since the beginning of the year," she said. "Everyone really earns a spot there, and I feel like I've been playing so well the whole year. I was working hard towards this.

"The WTA Finals is a very special tournament because it's only eight players. And we're all excited that it's in Singapore this year - everything looks so beautiful. We're all very motivated."
